A major medical device company in northern Indiana hired Relocation Strategies, Inc. to manage all aspects of its move to its new 100,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art laboratory facility. We worked with Zimmer on furniture management, project management and relocation management. The move was unusual in that nearly 25 percent of the equipment was large and/or heavy enough that it required riggers. We hired the rigging vendor and scheduled the moves so that equipment was moved before construction on the exterior walls was completed in order to accommodate the bulky equipment – some of it weighed more than 40,000 pounds. Adding an additional challenge was the complexity of the equipment, some of which was moved into “clean rooms.” This required detailed management of the equipment and coordinating the move with vendors and governmental agencies that had to recertify equipment. Maintaining the files and storage was critical too, since the records for all of the devices required special security and fire protection.
“Relocation Strategies, Inc. was incredibly helpful in the myriad details required in this move. We were grateful for their expertise in this area.”
